Kitty Handbag Here At Last!

Several months ago, when I first discovered the world of amigurumi, I came upon this photo of a bunny hand bag. I thought it was just too cute and have been dieing to make it since that day. However, no pattern. This past weekend I finally got my butt over to Japantown and was so dissappointed with the amigurumi craft book selection at the bookstore (there were only two there! And neither with the handbag pattern). I came home ever more determined though. And finally, here it is! My own kitty handbag! It turned out a lot better than I expected. It was probably a good idea afterall that I waited this long to tackle the project. Now with all my experience from making Aminekos it was much easier to imagine the pattern. "Roadkill Kitty" is about 10.5" long. His bag body can fit a cell phone, keys, and a small card holder. I actually fit my Casio Exilim in there. This is my prototype. The next one will be lined, hopefully. haha Hope you all like it! A couple more photos can be found at my Flickr.

The picture from your post on March 2, you have a magnetic alphabet up, my son has the same one!! He got it for x-mas. I really like Roadkill. I thinkI may add this to my project wishlist. You know, one of those lists you have, the 'someday, I'm gonna make this' lists! Very cute!! Very cute indeed!

Hey....Do you live near SF? If so, can you tell me what bookstore you went to? I'm going to Japantown in SF on Friday. I was hoping to find an amigurumi book there.... any help would be soo much appreciated!
Thanks!

Pattern hints? Amineko all around, baby! The head is exactly amineko. The ears I did to 16 instead of 14. The mouth is amineko style just tied in the middle to make it dimple. The body was a flat piece and the bottom separate circle. So, the body was like ch 36 then work even for a few rows. The decrease to 24. etc. The bottom is worked in rounds to 36 and then one row even and attached to the flat body piece by scs. Perhaps I’ll put a pattern up someday soon. Tee hee.

stay tuned for possible pattern or more hints. Roadkill Kitty may be turning into a sort of "trademark" haha, but I'll be sure to keep you posted. i did give some pattern hints earlier (see above). (^-^)v

for your "roadkill kitty" are the white parts of his mouth separate? i was thinking of making a handbag like that and like the way you did the mouth, but wasnt sure if it was separate or not. i suppose i will just have to do a "trial and error" type thing...
